The mustard colored pencil skirt

I honestly cannot say how I came to own a mustard colored pencil skirt...but...I do. I've worn the skirt once, and I stare at that lovely skirt every time I walk into the closet. I want to wear my little mustard colored pencil skirt, but am terrified that I will look like a bumblebee.

But you know what guys, I attempted a look and it worked!
Here is how I wore it:
Cardigan: Hand-me-down from Marissa (Target)//Tank Top: Target//
Pencil Skirt: Unknown
I apologize for the picture quality
Share with me how you would wear this skirt, so I can wear it more than once!

Have a great day all!

Hanging Herb Garden

A few posts ago, I mentioned starting a few DIY projects for the summer. I have only attempted some easy DIY projects in the past, because I am terrified of completely messing the item up. So I am going to take baby steps, and work my way to my ultimate project; turning the coffee table into an ottoman. I know I can do it, I think I am just not ready yet. So I hung my herbs instead.

I took an empty mason jar..
...covered the bottom in rocks...
...added a little soil and the herb [I chose rosemary and basil]...
Target: Dollar Spot
...wrapped, tied and wrapped again...
...and hung the herbs from the pre-installed hooks on our apartment porch. I triple knotted the rope to ensure it doesn't loosen and fall. That would be so bad, considering we live on the third floor.

White Water Rafting Fireworks

I indulge in any reason to celebrate [Thanks Mom!], and I become very antsy if I don't have something planned for a holiday. Luckily, everything came together really well and we had a great time! Stacy, Sean and I decided to go to the White Water Rafting Center for their 4th of July celebration.

Of course, it was packed.
But we were able to find a place to sit on the lawn, grab a few beers, talk and listen to the music.
The fireworks were definitely worth waiting for, and don't you worry, I captured the grand finale for you all to see :)

Have a great day all!

Short girl in a maxi skirt

I love the freedom to dress as I wish at work. Luckily it has been cooler this week than the last few, so layers have been welcome.

Comfy, casual, yet classy.
Jean Shirt: American Eagle//Maxi Skirt: Forever 21//
Camisole: Forever 21//Necklace: Forever 21
I am still on the hunt as to what to do for July 4th. Any reason for a celebration; count me in! It looks as though Charlotte is offering two choices, the White Water Rafting Center or SkyShow. I've always been one for a good cookout and sparklers.

Does anyone know if Lake Norman is hosting fireworks around the lake?
What are you all doing for July 4th?

Ballantyne Corporate Fitness Trail

During my lunch break, I like to explore the business park. I have walked to a number of shops, restaurants and just simply walked around the block. Today I decided to go a different route and stumbled upon the most interesting thing I have seen since working here. A fitness trail! Is this a thing? Do other business parks offer this wonderful trail? If they do, please excuse me while I allow my crazy flag to sway high.

[How I found the trail]

[An overview of how the fitness trail should be used]

The trail is great! As you make your way down the white gravel path, the stations are located to the right or left with the "equipment," example and description of how to use the "equipment," and the body part that is being activated.

Genius! Genius! Genius!
Another wonderful thing about this trail, is that it is shaded. Genius idea and wonderful location!

Have a wonderful day all!

It's a boy!

On Sunday, I attended Cherrelle's baby shower. It was lovely. I have not attended many baby showers, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I remember when she first shared the great news! I was so excited to have the change to watch her belly grow. The baby shower was a wonderful combination of delicious food and great company. I miss seeing Cherrelle on a daily basis, so it was really nice getting to be around her and a few other lovely ladies I haven't seen in over a month. The food though...and the cake....

....I love cake! Thankfully Lauren shared some of her frosting with me [lol]. My eyes are so much bigger than stomach and when it comes to cake I want the biggest piece the host[ess] is willing to give.

Lauren, Kelly and I went in on the gifts together, allowing us to get more without breaking the bank.
This is what we bought....

What to do on a Friday night

After a full week of work [and the bank account starts looking a little dry], you know that it's time to let loose, drink a little and laugh a lot. Sean and I went to my older brothers house to relax and sit around the fire. My brother cooked the burgers, Kelsie made a delicious pasta salad and Sean and I brought the chips. Once we finished eating it started to rain, putting a damper on our attempts to head outside. Sean and Kelsie found, and downloaded a game called "Heads Up!" which kept us laughing until the rain subsided.

The evening went wonderfully and I hope we will do it again! Thinking we may need to add a fire pit "how to" to the summer project list.....

Have a great day all!
